A Hurricane Sandy Relief Effort for Pizzerias
The Bacio Cheese® Blocks of Hope™ program concluded on February 16, providing over $2.4 million in support and assistance for more than 3,200 pizzerias and the American Red Cross Hurricane Sandy relief effort.
Bacio Cheese partners with some of the finest independent pizzerias in the U.S. – many of those are found in the Northeast and were directly in the path of Hurricane Sandy on October 29, 2012. Bacio Cheese Company and PERFORMANCE Foodservice – ROMA designed Blocks of Hope to provide assistance to those pizzerias and demonstrate our commitment to the entire independent pizzeria industry.
Throughout this 13-week program, a portion of all sales was donated to the American Red Cross, and pizzerias received a special relief rebate to assist with their rebuilding efforts. And for participating pizzerias not directly impacted by Hurricane Sandy, the Blocks of Hope program helped create a sense of solidarity, allowing them to contribute to pizzeria operators and communities in need.
